NEW HORIZONS BAND AND ORCHESTRA

(A Non-Credit Program Course)

Informational Meeting

Date: Wednesday September 2, 2009
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Place: California State University, Fresno, Education Room 140

The Division of Continuing and Global Education is offering the New Horizons Band and Orchestra, an innovative program designed to give adults aged 50 and over the chance they missed in youth to develop their musical skills, even if they have no prior musical experience. New Horizons members will learn to play a band or string instrument and participate in a beginning, intermediate or advanced band or orchestra, presenting two public concerts this fall.

The band/orchestra, conducted by Archie Rader and John Webster, is comprised of Fresno State faculty, staff and community members over the age of 50. Each week, band members participate in two hours of group lessons and band/orchestra rehearsals.

An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 2, at 6:30 pm, in the Education Building, Room 140. Adults will have the opportunity to try out various instruments including flutes, clarinets, saxophones, percussion, strings and more under the guidance of local music professionals.

Come join us, even if you’re not quite 50.

Class meets on the Fresno State campus on Wednesday nights, 6:30-8:30 pm, in ED 140, beginning September 9 and ending December 9 (no class on November 11 or 25).

Fees: $150, to be paid to California State University, Fresno by September 9, 2009.

Register at the Division of Continuing and Global Education, Kremen Education Building, Room 130.
